Great topic! Our 3 children are 10,9, and 7. They are just discovering the internet (filtered). I was forced to cut cable cause of the bill (got laid off) plus a side benefit of not being able to monitor it. It's so difficult these days and we only have 2 TVs. Many families have TVs in the kids rooms with full cable. That's just not a wise idea these days. Every other commercial, even on "family friendly" Disney was promoting Hannah or some kid-pop music CD. I do think it's ignorant to just simply cut everything hoping it all goes away, but I'm not afraid to protect our family by discussing it, and all agreeing we'd be better off without it.

The internet is a tremendous tool. I have my iPhone and would find it hard living without it. I mostly use maps for my job at UPS. We can communicate the Gospel, keep in touch with family and those in ministry in far reaches of the earth; yet in 2 clicks you potentially could be exposed to the worst filth imaginable. That's is why as a minimum I install Open DNS filtering on our and every family router I can get to. Also I recommend a filter like safeeyes. There is a safeeyes for the iPhone also. Google these if you need more info. OpenDNS is free and safeeyes cost a small annual fee, but well worth it. They are both tremendous. Thank you Brother Schmidt for bringing this up. Looking forward to more thoughts from you.
