Excellent thought here. It's truly something that seems to be lacking in too many fundamental Baptist churches. We don't need to bend to the culture - just proclaim the truth, and realize that God will not allow His Word to return void! I heard it said recently, "Whatever you use to attract people—you'll have to use the same thing to keep them!" We will certainly get what we seek. May God grant us wisdom to proclaim the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

I was looking to "change" some things in our teen group. Looks like I need to be spending more time in the Bible. Thanks for the direction. James

Excellent, excellent, excellent. It is so simple, yet nearly none of our churches practice it in their youth ministries. It's all about how much "clean fun" we can have instead of focusing on biblical truths.

Your statement about spending more time in preparation for Bible teaching instead of planning "fun." Great advice. As a young man in ministry, I will take this to heart.

Happy New Year!

Dear Cary,

This is the most important advice and counsel you could ever give. Well said!

The LORD Jesus said "Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die."

When we preach and teach, we must lift up the LORD Jesus as pre-eminent. As our first love, He takes the central place. His words properly presented are the best way we can lift Him up so that all people may be drawn unto Him. And when this is done properly Satan is also cast out all over again. He flees in defeat from his evil influence over people and situations, just as he experienced complete defeat when the LORD Jesus declared from the cross; "It is finished!"

We don't re-sacrifice the LORD Jesus Christ in a reenactment of the cross as do pagan "Christians". We celebrate His work, His person and His very life coursing through us by preaching and teaching the glorious Gospel once delivered...that is, those of us who really know Him personally as LORD and Saviour... and coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

We primarily do this through our living each day in the light of His words and in giving His words in our ministering to others. No greater approach can be taken than to give His words faithfully, accurately, biblically and most of all by the moving and conviction of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Christ, that fills us and uses us in this most holy and effective process.

You have hit the bulls eye... striking the very heart of true ministry and the philosophy of "doing church" God's way. Techniques and man's clever methods mean nothing. His words must be presented the right way and with the filling of God's Spirit.

Great commentary!
Much love, Dad Schmidt
